April Blues..

Hello everyone and happy April 1st,

So, whilst sat in a lecture about Macbeth today, I suddenly thought 'What colour would I choose for April?'... and it hit me immediately that all I've been craving for my wardrobe recently is pastel blue. Whilst i'm not sure you'll find many references to baby blue in Macbeth, and I can't tell you why Shakespeare inspired this thought, I can tell you that it is all over the high-street, and was still an avid player amongst 2014 Fashion Weeks. Whilst i'd love to splurge on the clothes of the catwalk, student life simply does not accommodate, so luckily shops are supplying my every need right now.

The Coat: Coats and jackets have to be my favourite clothing item this year, it is so easy to throw a nice, detailed or colourful coat on an otherwise bland looking outfit and it become so much more. I'd pair this coat with white, ankle crop jeans and either of the shoes shown below on this post.

Marks and Spencer's Limited Edition Button Through Coat, £89
The Sandal: Whilst it may be a bit soon to tell whether April will be warm enough for you to flaunt your new Spring pedicure, it can't help to simply be organised and literally step into the pastel (specifically) blue trend. I adore these sandals for their simplicity which just screams Zara, but the matt leather also ticks off another trend of SS14.

Zara's Leather Flat Sandal, £39.99

The Crop: I love this top simply for its versatility. Day and night it can be worn, with jeans or a shirt, bare arms or a jacket, heels or flats, it'll literally go with any outfit. At £22 it is also handy to have in as a luxurious cami-top to go under some more revealing outfits. However, the silk/sheer finish of the fabric leaves it looking so much more expensive than what it is! Thanks Topshop!
Topshop's Wrap Front Bralet, £22
The Trousers: Whilst I know these may not be technically 'pastel' blue, they are very close nonetheless and are flattering for most shapes providing they are paired with the right top, be it crop top or more of a cake-shelf hiding jumper, they add an element of relaxed sophistication to any April wardrobe. I would personally pair them with the crop top above, however, I must state that if you are fortunate enough to have long legs, you are not so fortunate with these trousers. Sitting on my lower waist, I'd happily pair them with the top above, flashing just the right amount of tummy, however, if they sit on the hip on you, pairing them with a short crop top may run the risk of showing toooo much to keep them looking sophisticated. It's a matter of trying them on... sorry! (worth the hassle though)
Topshop's Gingham Cigarette Trousers, £42

The Bag: Ted Baker oh how you make my heart race! Now, I know I said high street... Ted's technically high street (designer) right? Unfortunately, being the student I am, I cannot just go out and splurge on this bag, a girl can dream right?! However, you might be more lucky than I am... if so, I strongly recommend this bag for this season! This shade also comes in the shape of a handbag, a bit of a bigger bag, if you're not a shoulder bag kind of person, however, every wardrobe needs one small go-to bag, so (if I could) this would absolutely be mine! (and you know the quality will be amazingggg).

Ted Baker's Leather T Bag, £159
The Heel: Finally, the not so April Blue, but the April Silver. Having had one of Zara's pointy metallic shoe in this material I would say they are well worth the purchase. The shine does not fade and surprisingly they don't scratch that easily! I threw these shoes in because lets face it, they are beautiful. Despite this, I also love the blue and silver combination. I'd preferably pair these with the Marks and Spencer's coat above, white jeans, and the Ted Baker bag, just enough blue, but not too much!

Zara's Metallic High Heel Strappy Sandal, £59.99
